Back by popular demand! Stem cells have received much attention for their promise in biomedical research over the past decade. Large state and federal initiatives have been publicly approved to date. What is the hype and hope really all about for stem cells? The class will address some fundamental questions about stem cells, definitions, classifications, where they come from, and what they are able to do. Dr.Tim Nelson will address current and potential applications for stem cells in biomedical research with the goal of understanding the promise of regenerative medicine.
Speaker: Dr. Nelson has co-authored numerous publications, including a chapter on stem cells and regenerative pharmacology in the book Pharmacology and Therapeutics – Principles to Practice.
